SPANISH GP QUALIFYING: VIETTI FIFTH ROW, LUNETTA OUT OF Q2

A bittersweet day for the Beta Tools SpeedRS Team at the Spanish circuit, affected by changing weather conditions and several setbacks that impacted track work. Celestino Vietti finished in 13th place, securing a start from the fifth row, while Luca Lunetta was unable to reach Q2 due to a technical issue.

FP2 took place on a wet track. Both riders focused on setup work and data collection, avoiding unnecessary risks in the rainy conditions. Vietti ended the session in P18 with a lap time of 1’57.174, while Lunetta finished in P27 (1’59.540).

A tough qualifying session for Luca, who was stopped in Q1 by a technical problem. After returning to the garage and making a quick attempt to get back on track, the rider from Rome did not have enough time to complete a flying lap before the chequered flag, missing out on Q2. The number 32 will therefore start from the ninth row (P26) in tomorrow’s race.

In Q2, Vietti was hindered by a yellow flag during his flying lap, which prevented him from improving his time further. The rider from Cirié closed with a lap of 1’39.768 in 13th position, securing a start from the fifth row of the grid.

CELESTINO VIETTI #13: P13 in 1’39.768

“This morning’s practice sessions were affected by the rain, while in the afternoon it was a shame because of the yellow flag, as I was improving my lap time. In Q2 I struggled a bit more overall, especially in finding the right rear grip, but overall it wasn’t a completely negative day. It’s a pity not to have completed the good lap, but that’s how it went. Tomorrow we’ll do our best to recover”.

LUCA LUNETTA #32: P26 in 1’40.844

“It was a rather unusual day, heavily influenced by the weather conditions. The first session was run in the wet, and I chose not to take too many risks, focusing instead on getting comfortable with the bike in those conditions. I still had some margin, but I preferred to keep it in reserve to avoid mistakes. In terms of setup, we were more or less fine for Q1, I was feeling confident and the feeling with the bike was good, but unfortunately we had a technical issue and weren’t able to complete the session or show our real potential”.
